Listing Description

Don't let the aerial photo fool you. It is thicker than it appears and a lot more places to set up and hunt than it appears. There is good hunting on both sides of the road. One side is an open hay field with a fence line and about 5 acres located at the back with a small pond. The field is very hilly with some hidden depressions. The owner says deer bed down out of sight all year in low areas of this field.. The other side of the road is hilly and steep with a great mix of timber, hilltops and valleys. Between the neighbor’s corn field, the apple trees scattered around the farm, pond for water and grass fields there is everything needed to keep the deer fat and happy. Some of the trees were select cut a few years ago, and are growing up nice and thick. The owner of this farm has a network of trails cut through the farm that will make it easy to access but you will probably want an ATV or truck to drive this property because of the hills. The owner lives right on the property and you will not find a nicer guy. He has a nice spot for you to camp and will be willing to let you plug in for a small fee to help with the electricity. ATV use for hunting, scouting and hanging stands only. Use caution the hills are steep.

If you’re looking for a quick hunt spot off US-131 near Manton for one or two people this is it. It has open field, apple trees, a creek and two small patches of woods. You can access it from the north or from the east to help play the wind. The field has a small depression in the middle that the owner says holds deer because they hide down in there out of sight. During inspection, there were a flock of turkeys hanging out in the field. They headed right for the depression when they saw me. The small clump of trees between this area and the road had old rubs all around it. An Amish family will be taking hay and grazing their sheep on this property up until the grass is gone or the snow gets deep. They don’t graze the whole farm at once but do move the heard around and graze small parts. The field edges look really good so if your hunting there, you can hunt with the sheep but may want to hang a few stands so you can move around to hunt away from them. They will just be in the field not in the woods. The owner lives close by and is a great guy. You can camp here if you want but I didn’t see a good spot that wouldn’t restrict your hunting. There are some very nice riverside state campgrounds close by. No ATV use.
