Portage County Wisconsin Hunting Lease

Portage County, WI Hunting Lease

Listing Description

240 acres in Portage County. All legal game is yours to hunt on this property. While the aerial doesn’t show much cover it does show plenty of food sources. Lots of deer sign was present during my inspection, including several deer feeding on the property when I arrived. I did manage to get a picture of a couple before they left for cover. It seems like the local deer herd is thriving in this area. As I left the property after inspection, a quick tour around the block showed several deer feeding in the surrounding fields. There are trails and tracks all over on the property. Several trails coming and going from across the roads. A couple of strategically placed ground blinds or tree stands could intercept the deer to and from the feeding grounds. Several large trees in the northwest corner of the property could hold tree stands. Marsh grass and willows can provide bedding and cover as well as ambush sites. There is a ditch running around two-thirds of the property so some waterfowl action could be had in these areas. Respectful use of Atv’s is allowed for hunting related purposes only when weather and ground conditions permit. Respect all boundaries. Don’t drive on any crops. Don’t block any field entrances. No use of nails, screws, or screw in tree steps is allowed. No hunting blinds or equipment on roads, driveways or in paths of irrigation equipment. Any temporary hunting blinds or equipment placed on tillable acreage must be removed by 3/15 of each year to allow for farming practices.   No permanent hunting blinds shall be used anywhere on the property.   No camping at any time – this includes parking of campers / RVs.   Under no circumstances should trash be left behind by any of the hunters.

Portage County Wisconsin Hunting Lease

Portage County, WI Hunting Lease

Listing Description

52 acres in Portage County. This is an all species hunting lease located near the Portage County - Wood County line. First look at the aerial doesn’t seem to show much area to hunt but what this property does provide is a great access to the back side of 150 acres of Central Wisconsin Grassland Conservation Area. The eastern side of this conservation area is mostly open grassland with the majority of the timber located near this lease. This lease can provide stealthy access to where the deer are located. During my inspection a couple of deer ran back into this area when I drove up to the property. There are several trails leading out of this area into the crops located on the lease. Several rubs and beds were observed along the eastern edge of this property. The deer are also using the north and south property lines as travel routes along with trails through the waterways on the property. There are a couple of trees along the north boundary for possible stand locations. A small pond is located in the northwest corner of the property. Row crops are the norm on this property with soybeans being the crop this year. Respectful use of ATV’s is allowed for hunting related purposes only when weather and ground conditions permit. The landowner would like contact from the hunters initially. Food plots are a possibility with permission from the landowner as to where.

Portage County, WI Hunting Lease

Listing Description

25 acres in Portage County. All legal game is yours to pursue on this lease. This relatively flat property has a lot of deer sign on it. During my inspection four deer were seen leaving their beds. There are numerous trails leading into the neighboring crop fields. There are also a couple of heavy trails heading north to connect with the timber across the road. Rubs and beds and tracks were all in an abundance during my inspection. The property has a good mix of thick cover, hardwood trees, grasses, and a small waterway running through it. Plenty of large trees for stand placement are available. Great food sources are available to the deer on the neighboring properties. This could be a great parent/child type lease. Respectful use of ATV’s is allowed for hunting related purposes when weather and ground conditions permit. The landowner would like to meet the hunters initially. There is a snowmobile trail that crosses the property along its northern edge. No use of nails, screws, or screw in tree steps is allowed. No tree cutting. Don’t block field entrance.
